Summary
Cope Stones is a series of stories and poems that use the language of fairy tales to discuss different methods of approaching personal life problems. The texts are presented in unconventional ways, combining book art and sculptural techniques to investigate the entanglement of form and content. Each object requires the audience to interact with it in some way, to read the text. The actions performed by the reader becomes part of the piece, serving as commentary on the content of the writing. One piece, with text typed on ribbon, asks the participant to unwind the story to read the words. The action of unwinding the ribbon reveals a story about processing, represented by the reader's action of unwinding the ribbon. The artist draws on aspects of content, form and audience participation to explore methods of coping. The stories different issues and varying reactions. Each form expresses the coping method in a physical way as a means of commentary, demonstrating its drawbacks and benefits. Each piece requires reader participation, their actions curating a personalized, interactive experience
