Summary
This project, Alone Together, emphasizes analog techniques and old-fashioned ways of making. The artist connects two mediums: stop motion fabrication and analog photography. The combination of the two is a miniature model colliding with black and white images. The scenes are from an old style American diner, populated with animals from French fables. Focused on the details, this small scale world offers a new view on the ordinary, shedding light on the importance of the handmade, taking time, sharing memories as well as community, neutral ground, and social life. The artist learns through practice and thinks through making. Through this project, De Ribaupierre acquires new skills in stop-motion animation fabrication while also enhancing her personal development and growth
